Principles and Theories of Crisis Management

Abstract

This academic article aims to explore the principles and theories of crisis management in the context of today?s rapidly changing world. It begins with the definition, characteristics, and classification of crises, followed by an analysis of key theoretical frameworks such as the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) and Image Restoration Theory. The study also examines crisis management models by Fink, Mitroff, Burnett, and Jacques, which offer practical guidance for organizational leaders in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from crises. The article emphasizes that effective crisis management requires more than ad-hoc problem-solving; it must be a strategic process grounded in contextual understanding, data analysis, and proactive planning to build long-term resilience and adaptability within organizations.
